Discover the island of Majorca after the summer. Experience the best month to visit.

With the end of summer, temperatures inMajorca start to decrease, from the 30º - 37º they tend to hover around duringthe previous months to the milder and more comfortable temperatures of25º-28º.

There is also a notable decrease in the crowds experienced onthe island during the summer months, and it’s not surprising, as children havegone back to school and many people have had their summer holidays.

But, if you are one of the few people whoseholidays start in September, when the rest have had theirs, don’t worry, because you are sure to feel fortunate to visit the island during thismonth.

Would you like to know what you can do inSeptember in Majorca? Well, keep reading this post.

Activities in thenatural environment

Thanks to the decrease in temperatures onthe island, it’s possible to carry out activities in the Tramuntana Mountainsthat were impossible to do in July or August because of the high temperatures.

September is perfect for hiking ordiscovering the incredible heritage we have, such as the “cases de neu” (snowhouses) or find a “sitja de carbó” (charcoal burner).

It is also a good time for cycle tourismbefore the autumn and winter rains arrive. If you are a cycling fan, make themost of your holiday and cycle around the roads of Majorca.

And let’s not forget those who still wantthe beach and sun. Perhaps, for different reasons, you haven't been able to setfoot on a beach all summer, but you can still get the sun's rays to tan yourskin a little. You will also be able to do some aquatic activities, likesurfing or paddle boarding, without any problems.

Visits to Majorcan towns

Majorca has some beautiful towns, like Valldemosa, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Spain, Binissalem where grapeharvesting takes place during this month, or Santa Ponça with the traditionalcorre-focs (‘fire runs’).

Alternatively, you could also visit thedifferent markets which are spread throughout the island, such as theone in Alcudia that takes place every Tuesday and Sunday, Santa Maria on eachSunday, or the largest of all, the Sineu market, which takes place everyTuesday.

At these markets you will be able to buyhand-crafted products, fruit and vegetables, and some of them even selllivestock.

Your holidays inAlcudia

Although there will be less tourism on theisland, you can still notice that there are more visitors than residents inPalma. For this reason, if you arelooking for peace and quiet and to be in contact with nature, the best place tostay at is the north of the island, in Alcudia.

There, you will find everything you need, such as clothes shops, restaurants and bars, the beach, cycling routes, hikingroutes, points of interest, cultural trips… In Alcudia you will find everythingyou can find in Palma but with less commotion.
